Music has always been a part of Liz Nance’s life since she was a young girl
singing solos in school concerts in Winchester, Virginia. She followed her love of singing through
school with roles in The Sound of Music at St. Catherine’s School, as well
as Promises Promises, Applause and My Fair Lady at Duke University. Along the way she sang in choirs and chamber ensembles
that toured the northeast, including the Choral Arts Society in Washington, D.C., where she sang
under the direction of Leonard Bernstein, Mistislav Rostropovich and Robert Shaw at the Kennedy
Center, National Cathedral, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
Since moving to Richmond in 1994, she has served as a section leader at St. James’s Episcopal Church,
where she sings classical and contemporary sacred repertoire for services, weddings and special concerts.
Liz was a soloist in the Vivaldi Gloria, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass,
Durafle Requiem and the Brahms
Liebeslieder Waltzes. Liz also performs Irish ballads, pop and jazz
standards, traditional music and holiday programs with a number of
ensembles which she leads and books, such as the Serenade Trio, which
you'll find in the On Stage page of the
site.
Performance venues include the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts,
Salisbury Country Club, Starbucks, Rostov's Coffee and Tea, the Commonwealth Club, as well as local restaurants The Ironhorse,
Taylor’s, Shenanigans, and Ashland Coffee and Tea. Liz also sings with Oak
Lane acoustic music, an Americana group that entertains at parties, rehearsal
dinners, wedding receptions and favorite local spots.
Liz occasionally forays into the theatrical arena, and was last seen in the fun 70s musical revue
Back to
Bacharach and David for Richmond Triangle Players.
