  • I've made two special CDs.

Cover of Liz's Morning Song CD

The new CD (Dec 2009) was inspired by the song I Owe My Lord a Morning Song which speaks to my innate desire to start each day singing. This collection features all female singers on classic traditional hymns, anthems and songs, accompanied by piano, guitar and flute. It was especially fun to play my new mandolin with my sister on Just a Closer Walk.

I was able to work with a number of guest artists, many of whom sing and play instruments at my church, St. James’s Episcopal in Richmond, VA. We sing every week in church, but also “take our music to the people” in outreach to home-bound parishioners, retirement centers, the Virginia Home, CARITAS, and the people of New Orleans. We regularly collaborate with churches throughout the city in special music services, and on occasion provide music for Diocesan services.

We have traveled to sing at magnificent places - the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., Gloucester and Canterbury Cathedrals and Westminster Abbey in England, and in the summer of 2010 will visit France, singing concerts at the cathedrals of Chartres and Rouen, La Madeleine in Paris and singing Mass at the American Cathedral and Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris.

A Morning Song is available by contacting me at lizforpr@verizon.net. The CD benefits the St. James’s Church Music Fund for our music ministry. You can read the liner notes here.

Cover of Liz's CD I released a collection of inspirational songs in 2002 entitled, Singing with A New Voice. The CD is a  mix of Pop, Broadway, Celtic, Blues, Traditional, Classical and Contemporary Christian selections, organized around the central theme of hope through faith.

On my debut CD, I collaborated with Swift Creek Mill Theater’s musical director, Paul Deiss, who created many of the arrangements and orchestrations, as well as an original song, Break the Bread. “It’s been refreshing to work with Liz because she allows the creative process to flow freely, yet she is an artist who pays great attention to detail,” Deiss said. “She amazed me with her versatility on different musical styles, and her passion for the songs on this CD is evident in her treatment of the lyrics. Having mixed these tracks, I listened to Liz sing each song about a hundred times, but never got tired of hearing her voice. She has an unforced, lyrical quality that is often haunting.”

A line in one of the songs serves as a hallmark statement of why I made this recording: "All things are mine since I am His; how can I keep from singing?" This song, entitled How Can I Keep from Singing, joins the following tracks in this warm and vibrant collection: Thy Word, Be Thou My Vision, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Day By Day/ Beautiful City medley (from the musical Godspell), Down in the River to Pray (from the movie Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou), The Prayer (duet with Jason Marks), Wade in the Water, Break the Bread (original by Paul Deiss), When You Believe (from the movie Prince of Egypt), Panis Angelicus, Amazing Grace, and How Beautiful.

I wanted this collection to speak to the listener on many levels, and deliver its message of hope within a theatrical presentation, offering familiar and fresh new music, varied instrumentation, and a spirit that would rise above the everyday concerns we all face.

Singing with a New Voice is available in the Richmond area by contacting me at lizforpr@verizon.net. The CD benefits medical research and patient education at The American Cancer Society.
